What is the Making Your Future Project?

These are just a few of the comments made by teachers who've been involved in Making Your Future.

Making Your Future, the education 'strand' of the Made in London SRB6 initiative, aims to raise the profile of manufacturing among young people, aged 7 to 19, and their teachers. It provides a focus for the local, borough-based Education Business Partnerships (EBPs) in north and east London to develop activities that encourage schools / colleges to develop links with manufacturing companies in their area.

The project came about because we wanted to do something about the fact that young people generally have a:

• poor image of work in manufacturing
• general lack of understanding of the processes that are used by manufacturers
• lack of awareness of the career opportunities that exist in manufacturing.

The Making Your Future project, which is led by Enfield EBP, has several elements, including activities for pupils and Professional Development Placements for teachers / lecturers . As the project develops, more information, including case studies, will be added to this site.
