Cutting Edge is a funded project working with clothing companies all over London.

The aim is to improve opportunities for companies involved in garment production in the Capital. These may be Cut, Make and Trim units or manufacturers looking to get into new markets and learn more about tailoring their service to suit shifting demand.

They may be pattern cutters, fabric or trimming suppliers, designers or retailers who want to be introduced to each other, or to access training, funding or specialist advice to improve their businesses. Since the vast majority of volume production has been moved offshore to low labour cost countries, London clothing production is under huge strain, and Cutting Edge is supportive of all initiatives aimed at maintaining the skill base for garment production that we have in the city.

How can Cutting Edge help you?

Informal one-on-one advice - We like to meet all our clients face-to-face initially to discuss your business needs. We will then endeavour to refer you to further suitable specialist advice and, in the case of production or sourcing, to suitable manufacturers or suppliers.

Business workshops given by specialists covering topics from selling and marketing to cashflow and copyright. We welcome suggestions and feedback and try to tailor these workshops to our clients’ needs. These are usually based in Central London and run after office hours.

The Source - London’s only trade show for garment production and related services. Manufacturers, CMT’s, pattern cutters, fabric and trim suppliers are all invited to exhibit. Designers, buyers and anyone sourcing these services is welcome to attend. Entry is free for exhibitors and attendees.

Love London's Rag Trade: The Directory - The Cutting Edge Directory of London-based clothing services will be published in October 2004, to coincide with The Source Autumn 04. It is intended to promote the services of London-based clothing manufacturers; Cut, Make and Trim units; fabric suppliers, trimmings suppliers, pattern cutters and graders and fabric printers.

The directory will be a gorgeous handbag/desk-size booklet to be used as a reference point for fashion buyers and designers, mainly although not exclusively in the UK.

Our services are free of charge to the user, made possible thanks to funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the Made in London SRB6 programme. All we ask for from clients is a commitment to improving their business and initiating change.
